|
Present the Results and Discussion sections of your research report based on your Semester 1 writing coursework. To do so, describe and analyse the two data sets in order to answer the research questions you introduced in the Aims section of your writing coursework.

Answer 3 - 4 questions, which will involve clarifying and
elaborating on your research and reflecting on the process of doing the research project.

Core Task Requirements
|
|
● Presentation duration: 5 minutes (+/- 30 seconds)
● Analyse 2 data sets (one of the assigned data sets from writing coursework task sheet and another that you chose).
● Present data using at least 1 visual (graphs/charts/tables). You must create any visuals by yourself using the raw data. You cannot use published graphs or any other visuals created by others.
● Include the following in the presentation:
a. Briefly summarize the aims of your research.
b. Describe the notable data (i.e,, summarise your Results section)
c. Analyse possible reasons for the data (i.e,, summarise your Discussion section)
● Respond to aII of the examiner’s questions

PowerPoint requirements

● File format: .ppt/.pptx
● File name: Your name in pinyin and ID number, e.g., Lei Wang 1901234
● First slide: Include your name and student ID number
● Last slide: Include a reference list, using Harvard or RSC. This should include any sources used in the presentation (for example, when giving possible reasons) and the data sets that you analysed.
● You must upload your PPT to the LM drop box by the deadline. If not, you will not be able to use a PPT. This will negatively impact your grade under Task (see the descriptors on the last two pages).

Other task information
● Bring your student ID card (or a government-issued photo ID)
● Arrive on time for the assessment. You will not be allowed to take the test if you are late. You are recommended to arrive at least ten minutes early at your test room.
● The test will be audio recorded.
● The examiner will signal to students when 30 seconds remain in the presentation.
● You may not bring notes (e.g. a presentation script) to the assessment.
● In the Q&A, you may ask the examiner to rephrase or repeat a question, but you may not ask for a new question.
Marking and feedback
● You will be given an opportunity in Week 7 to practice both Part 1 (your presentation) and Part 2 (the Q&A part) in class and receive formative feedback.
● Tests will be marked according to the Year 2 Speaking Coursework Descriptors (see the last two pages).
● Students will receive an email when marks are released. An overall assessment report will also be published on the EAP103 Learning Mall page.
