SENSORS AND INSTRUMENTATION
2024-25 Semester 1- Assignment-CW-2
RBE204TC– Coursework Assessment 2
Module title: Sensors and Instrumentation
l Total Credit: 5
l Module leader: Dr. Shenhong Wang & Dr. Sze-hong Teh
1. The expected learning outcome from the module spec
a. Demonstrate a distinct understanding of the physical principles underlying common electrical sensors, applying this knowledge to practical scenarios
b. Analyze and interpret basic sensor specifications, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of their significance in measurement systems
c. Examine and critically evaluate the system requirements for a typical measurement system, demonstrating a deep understanding of their implications
d. Evaluate and analyze common factors influencing the performance of measurement systems, demonstrating a critical appreciation of their impact
e. Acquire the ability to use specific sensors and instrumentation for a given scenario that demonstrates practical proficiency in performance and sustainable evaluation
2. Philosophy of the assessment design
a. To align with the philosophy of Syntegrative Education (problem-based & project-focused)
Projects with specific practical problems or goals
b. To meet the expected learning outcome
Each student’s contribution will be proportionally evaluated and the students with a significant potential need to be acknowledged.
3. The proposed assessment scheme to meet the above philosophy
a. Scope – Deep dive into the engineering design of one specific sensing functional requirement for a self-driving car or ship, total mark of 50.
b. Delivery 1 – Project report, the word number could be less than 2000, a total of 40 marks.
c. Delivery 2 – Presentation, the slide deck could be less than 20 pages, a total of 10 marks.
d. Submission – CW2, 10 pm of Sunday Week 7 of Nov 3rd.
e. Evaluation – offline, the report & presentation need to be submitted in Learning Mall, only English is accepted.
