Building Services System Design B (MBS4242)
1. Introduction/Background
i. Carry out design of MVAC Services for a commercial building;
ii. Brief description of the building/layout: usage classification, grade type, occupancy, room type, storey etc.
iii. All assumption taken.
2. Scope of Services Works
i. Carry out the investigation on the building constraints and surrounding environment of the selected building and its impact on the MVAC provision.
ii. Analyze the MVAC installation required for the selected building.
3. Design Reference and Criteria
i. Relevant Ordinances, Regulations, Code of Practice and Standards in Hong Kong;
ii. Relevant Design Guides from societies/institutes;
iii. Requirements, rules and data from relevant Hong Kong government departments and societies/institutes;
iv. Define the design criteria for the selected building (i.e. outdoor condition, design condition, NC level etc.);
4. System Description
i. State the criteria for selection of the services. Various alternatives and justifications/design considerations for final selection (taking into account various factors such as, maintenance, space, safety, energy, environment, sustainability, etc.) ;
ii. Arrangement and location of components for the systems (Location of AHU, PAU etc.);
v. Proper design of MVAC installation (i.e. cooling load estimation, air duct sizing, psychometric analysis, air grille sizing, external static calculation etc.) ;
iii. Compliance with the COP;
iv. Carry out study on the following aspects including selection of plant and system components, selection of plant room locations, plant room space and main services routes.
5. Appendix
Supporting materials such as copies/data/information of relevant Ordinances, Regulations, Code of Practice and Standards in Hong Kong; and relevant Design Guides from societies/institutes, revision of drawings (A3 size), calculations and sizing analysis, equipment/materials schedules and specifications, etc. Summary included in the text with details shown in appendix.
