LAN WAS Routing Environment Project
Project
Objective: The objective of this lab is to combine all the concepts you have covered in class and utilize them in one packet tracer as well as adding some new technologies that you will need to research. This allows you to pull together all the different components in a network and see one can look like from start to finish. You can get a sense of the planning that goes into the networks we use every day. Each one of the components in this project is a small piece of a content area that is large enough that people spend their entire careers focusing on just that one aspect of the network. There are some new technologies in this lab as well that you will need to research to implement.
This project covers a lot of material and will introduce the use of some new technologies. The technologies that we will be using include:
· Subnetting class A & class C
· WAN routing using OSPF
· DHCP
· DNS
· Web server
· Redundancy
· Wireless
· Extra credit: Telephony
A brief description of what must be done for each section is below.
Subnetting: You will need to subnet two different IP ranges for the networks. For the LAN use the class C IP subnet 192.168.100.X and subnet it into 5 separate IP networks. Assign one of each of these networks to the separate LA segments listed in the LAN section. For the WAN section use the class A subnet of 10.X.Y.Z and subnet it into 4 or mor subnets and assign one network to each of the WAN segments.
LAN: You will need to create 5 LAN segments. Assign each segment a separate IP subnet you created from the subnetting section above. Details about what is required for each LAN segment is below.
Segment one:
· Two switches that are cross connected using the high-speed uplink port for fault tolerance.
· 3 PC workstations. The PCs must be able to access the web server on segment three, the DNS server on segment four, and the workstations on segment 5.
· A DHCP server
· Redundant LAN links between switches
· Redundant WAN connectivity
Segment two:
• A wireless access point
• A wireless device that can connect to the wireless access point
Segment three:
• A Web server than can be accessed by the PCs in segment one and five.
Segment four:
• DNS Server configured with a DNS address for the web server
Segment five:
• Three PCs. The three PCs must be able to access the DNS server, web server, and the PCs in segment one.
WAN: The WAN must contain 4 routers with redundant routes. Use the subnet 10.x.y.z class A subnet you created in the subnetting section. Use OSPF routing protocol for the WAN routes.
Extra credit - Telephony: Set up 2 IP phones on subnet one. The phones must be able to able to dial one each other and make the other phone ring.
Assignment instructions: Build out a packet tracer network containing all the components above. Once you have completed the project save the packet tracer as firsname.lastname.project.pkt and submit online under the assignment.
