ACCT*1240: Applied Financial Accounting -- Instructions for Final Exam
· This test will be monitored/invigilated through the ZOOM video conferencing platform. You will be sent the link at least 24 hours prior to the exam. You are expected to be logged into the ACCT*1240 Final Exam Zoom Meeting before 2:25 am (EST). Your cameras must be ‘on’ and your face must be visible throughout the entire exam.
· If you do not feel comfortable being on camera with your classmates, you can request a private breakout room that only the instructor and TAs will have access. You will be required to have your camera and sound on if you are in a private breakout room.
· This midterm is NOT Open Book – You are permitted to have a calculator and 1 side handwritten 8½ x11 cheat sheet. Your cheat sheet will need to be submitted in the “CHEATSHEET” dropbox with your exam, in PDF or JPEG format. You may submit your cheatsheet prior to the exam. You cannot communicate with anyone or access additional resources during the Final Exam. You will be asked to show your cheat sheet at the beginning of the exam. Students who forget to submit their cheat sheet and/or submit it in HEIC format will have 10 marks deducted from the final exam grade. As such, I recommend that you take a scan or convert a picture of your cheatsheet prior to your exam to ensure it is submitted in the correct format.
· Your final exam will be emailed to you at 2:25 am, PDF CASE & EXCEL submission document. You can use the 5 minutes to get ready. Students who do not complete the correct version assigned/received will receive ZERO on the exam.
· You have 120 minutes to complete the exam. I will not be answering questions during the exam.
· The exam ends at 4:30 pm, but an additional 5 minutes are provided to submit your answers. That is, you must submit your work by 4:35 pm, unless you have special permission granted prior to the exam. Submissions should be done in ‘CourseLink->Dropbox -> FINAL EXAM, like the way you normally submit your engagement participation. Your exam submission should be in EXCEL.
· Late submissions will NOT be accepted – students will receive a Zero. I will be very strict on this late submission issue. Please give yourself at least 5 minutes to make sure your work is submitted on time.
· In addition to the exam submission, in the comment section of your dropbox submission you must submit the following declaration:

· If there is a technical issue during submission, you must send your work to my email ([email protected]) on time - emails received after 4:35 pm will not be accepted. You must continue to try to submit your exam after you have emailed your work.
· When submitting your work, please ensure all answers are included, correctly indicated, and clearly readable for marking. Files that are not readable will receive a zero. Students will NOT be contacted to resubmit their exam.

1. Courselink Quiz – multiple choice questions (20 marks)
· Conceptual Framework – 4 questions
· Transactions – 2 questions
· HST – 1 question
· Payroll – 2 questions
· Bank Reconciliations – 2 questions
· Data Analytics – 3 questions
· Year End Adjustments – 4 questions
· Ethics and Code of Conduct – 2 questions
2. Case– Answers Submitted in the Excel Document (40 marks)
The case will be similar to those cases completed in class with no data analytics section. It is not similar to the Group case submission. The case will test the following competencies:
· Case writing skills (users/objectives, framework, issue identification, recommendation)
· Analysis and performance of Year End Adjustments
· Recording Payroll and HST journal entries and adjustments
· Basic Excel functions and data analytics
· Application of the conceptual framework
NOTE: There are no part marks for journal entries that are not complete or do not balance. There are no marks for adjusting entries that adjust CASH.
Students will be given and Excel® template which will need to be submitted on CourseLink.
